PanCan Twilight 5K Run/Walk on Hog Neck Golf Course Scheduled
The Mid-Shore Pancreatic Cancer Foundation will be holding its second annual 5K Run/Walk on Hog Neck Golf Course on Saturday, August 25th. Proceeds from the run will support the organization’s mission to provide hope and support for pancreatic cancer patients in our area. This will be a truly unique opportunity to run in the evening on the beautiful Hog Neck Golf Course. “We want to thank Hog Neck Golf Course for making their course available to us to raise awareness and support for the fight against pancreatic cancer” said Bill Shrieves, president of the Mid-Shore Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers with the lowest 5-year survival rate at just 9%. This year 55,440 Americans will be diagnosed with this disease and 44,330 are expected to die from the disease. Pancreatic cancer remains the third leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States, killing more people than breast cancer.
TCR Event Management will be conducting the race. The registration fee is $30. There will be a maximum of 200 participants, so early registration is important. If you have been touched in any way by pancreatic cancer, this is your opportunity to help in the fight. All participants will be given PURPLE glow sticks, in remembrance of those who have suffered from the effects of Pancreatic Cancer. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal. Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear their best purple garb.
Registration will open at 6:30PM on the day of the race. The race will start at 7:30PM. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female runners overall and by age group.
